How to add your page(s) to categories
1 Comment Published October 27th, 2007 in FDW Howtos, FDW News. Here’s how you can add your page(s) to as many categories as you want. You can even add new categories if one doesn’t exist for you.Simple add the following code:
[[Category:Advertising]]
You can replace the word Advertising with any other category word you wish. To see a list of existing categories, you can always scroll to the bottom of our homepage.
You can also add your pages and a description to the category pages, which are user-editable. For example, you can goto Advertising category page and edit the page.
This will give you “DOUBLE” presence, meaning you will show up on categories plus the description. Still don’t get it? Don’t worry. We constantly surf user’s pages and add them for you or you can always e-mail us with a description to support [at] fivedollarwiki.com. ![]()
What does this for your pages?
Basically, you will get indexed 10 times better by search engines since now search engines have categories to relate to. The more categories you relate to, the better you will show up for your keywords.
You can copy and paste the categories you want below:
[[Category:Advertising]]
[[Category:Animals]]
[[Category:Blogs]]
[[Category:Bizarre]]
[[Category:Business]]
[[Category:Free]]
[[Category:E Stores]]
[[Category:Games]]
[[Category:Health]]
[[Category:Home]]
[[Category:Humor]]
[[Category:Law]]
[[Category:Marketing]]
[[Category:Medical]]
[[Category:Money]]
[[Category:Movies]]
[[Category:Music]]

Erz wins another 10 pages for being the first to put buttons!
1 Comment Published October 27th, 2007 in FDW BUZZ, FDW News.

One of our page-owners, Erz, wins another 10 free pages on the FiveDollarWiki for being the first to put on FDW buttons. Since he put 2 buttons and we are not greedy about our pages, we are awarding him with another TEN free pages worth $50! He also did win TWENTY free pages on our OneBuckWiki for being the first.
Do you have a blog or website? Put FDW buttons and you can win 5 free pages per button!
Why are we giving out so many free pages? Because we love our customer duh!
(and we do realize that word-of-mouth is probably the most powerful marketing method out there today)

Yey, we’ve sold over 100 pages! Although not as good as our sister paid wiki, OneBuckWiki, which has sold over 1000 pages within even a shorter period of time, we believe that FDW will grow much quicker in the next few weeks as we will be doing some new marketing campaigns.
In dollar amounts, we’ve sold $505 worth of pages while OneBuckWiki have sold $1105 worth of pages. Well, we are not too behind in terms of dollars.
We’ve put 100% money back into marketing and PR so page-owners are actually the ones running the show. We will keep putting 100% of revenues back into advertising until we have reached steady traffic.

OneBuckWiki sells over 800 pages in 6 days!
0 Comments Published October 17th, 2007 in FDW BUZZ, FDW News. Our newest paid-Wiki creation, OneBuckWiki sells over 800 pages in 6 days!
We will soon be launching big viral marketing for the Five Dollar Wiki this weekend when the OBW has sold 1000 pages.
Since OBW will be stopping sales for couple days to update the site, we are expecting to re-route traffic to Five Dollar Wiki as there are many pages available on the FDW still.
More updates will be coming soon.

I’ve been getting tons of e-mails about how to make these money making wiki sites.
First of all, all the information is out there on the internet. You just gotta be able to hack a little bit and change things here and there.
Here’s the main links for getting you started:
MediaWiki - Obviously, money making wikis are powered by MediaWiki, which powers the Wikipedia and all sorts of cool Hack wikis and others…
PaulGu - PaulGu is the cool template you can use for the MediaWiki.
The rest is kind of a hacking through bunch of code and a lot of headache honestly.
It took me 3 days of sleepless nights and a lot of headaches where I’d be yellin’ and screamin’ because I couldn’t get the code right. BUT it’s do-able if you are really determined and go for it.
On the side note, we are going to be creating more paid wikis including the pennywiki.com, that might be up for sale. If interested, e-mail us at morewikis [at] fivedollarwiki.com or leave a comment.
